What Nathan Fillion Loves About Playing Nathan Drake In The Uncharted Fan Film

It's the role that Nathan Fillion was born to play. And yet, no one was letting him actually play it... until now. There have been numerous similarities between Fillion and Nathan Drake, the treasure-seeking, Indiana Jones-esque hero of Naughty Dog's Uncharted video games. If you played the games, and you were familiar with Fillion from Firefly or Castle (to name just a few), you made the connection between their personalities, their styles, and their sense of humor. Now that Fillion has actually played Drake in an Uncharted short fan film (which we will link below), we asked him what he enjoyed most about wearing the role, and he explained:

What I love about him is how blissfully unprepared he is. He's not the guy I would call in an emergency situation. But he certainly does like to fly by the seat of his pants, and I do admire that. I just wouldn't put him on my super-reliable-guy list on my phone.

This stems back to a conversation we recently had with Tom Cruise and the cast of Mission: Impossible -- Fallout, about whether super spy Ethan Hunt is a really good agent, or just really lucky. (For the record, a lot of people tied to the series think Ethan is lucky.) Nathan Drake, over the course of his video game adventures, has used his skills to get to exotic locations and retrieve fantastic and valuable historical items. But there are a lot of time that Nathan's "blissfully unprepared" nature, as Nathan Fillion puts it, has bailed him out of dangerous situations.

New Halloween Trailer Straight Up Brings In A Halloween II Scene

Two beloved horror icons will return to the silver screen next month when David Gordon Green's Halloween premieres. Michael Myers is going to face off against Laurie Strode after decades of anticipation, and the sequel/reboot of the fan-favorite slasher classic is gearing up to become one of fall's most anticipated films. Though much has been said about the fact that Halloween will ignore the Halloween sequels, a brand-new trailer has just hit the web, and it directly references a sequence from Halloween II. Check it out, below!

Pretty creepy, right? That trailer from Halloween opens with a bang, and it shows that Michael Myers isn't just going after Laurie Strode on this rampage. In a scene very reminiscent of Halloween II, we see Michael make his way through the busy streets of Haddonfield, and then go after an older woman in a rope who has carelessly left a kitchen knife on a cutting table. Needless to say, Michael gets his hands on the knife.

There is a lot of visual evidence to suggest that this opening scene for the trailer is a callback to that early Halloween II scene. However, the kicker seems to be that both movies feature a huge lump of ham on the cutting board.

From there, the trailer for the new Halloween covers a lot of what we already expect from the movie, while filling in some of the plot games that we have been waiting to see filled in. Looking at this new trailer, it actually makes a lot of sense to think that this is a sequel to Halloween that honors Halloween II. Though the second Halloween film is no longer canon, this version of Halloween pays homage to it by featuring a version of Haddonfield that appears to be on higher alert than the one seen in the original. Laurie is basically the modern version of Sam Loomis (her big, silver revolver reminds us of Loomis' gun), and her move to team up with the cops in a substantive way feels like a callback to the second film.

With all of that said, there are still plenty of elements that make this movie look and feel unique. It's a darker looking movie than most of the Halloween films, and it's clear that director David Gordon Green is pulling no punches when it comes to the hard violence. Put all of that together, and we may finally have a legitimately great Halloween sequel on our hands.

How Much Avengers: Infinity War Could Make Worldwide Opening Weekend

This weekend is going to be a major one at the box office. After 18 blockbusters and a decade of superheroics, Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Infinity War will finally arrive in theaters. The film will unite all of the MCU's heroes in the epic battle against Josh Brolin's Thanos, and has been teased to essentially end the shared universe as we know it. With stakes and anticipation for the third Avengers movie sky high, there are a ton of cinephiles and casual fans who are willing to shell out money for opening weekend tickets. Early projections are in, and it Infinity War looks like its going to be breaking opening weekend records.

The current projections for Avengers: Infinity War's opening weekend performance have it coming it at a whopping $478-$498 million worldwide. The film is releasing in the US along with the international markets, flooding the studio with cash money and the internet with inevitable spoilers. There is obviously no market quite as excited for Infinity War as the one back home, with the blockbuster predicted to make $216-$235 million. Fans have been waiting a long time to see the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy finally cross paths, and fear of spoilers helping result in a massive opening haul.

Because Infinity War is so long in the making, fans are absolutely petrified of its contents being spoiled. The Russo Brothers have implored the fandom to stay off of social media for the time being, as early screeners are already happening all over the country. While the internet may be a dangerous place for the coming days, actor Anthony Mackie (aka Falcon) has maintained that even spoilers won't ruin the experience. Infinity War is so dense and features so many plot twists that one or two could get ruined without stopping you from having a good time in theaters.

The early estimates for this weekend's box office performance, which come to us from Deadline, put Avengers: Infinity War right up there with the last two main Star Wars films. The Force Awakens currently holds the record for strongest opening weekend with $247.9 million domestically. The Force Awakens has the advantage of being the first new Star Wars movie in many years, and having generations of fans. But Infinity War might just beat out The Last Jedi, which hauled a $220 million opening this past December.

While many fans have already bought their tickets for showings of Avengers: Infinity War, we've seen how word of mouth can really put the performance over the top. Black Panther did just that in February, and has continued making money in the months since its release. With Infinity War clocking in at over 2 and a half hours, fans may want to also rewatch in theaters to catch everything they missed.
