The Classic Men In Black Prop That Plays A Big Role In The Reboot

Sing it with us: Here come the Men In Black again! It has been seven years since the black-suited galaxy protectors at the Men In Black graced our movie screens, and Sony plans to bring the outfit out of mothballs for this summers Men In Black International. There will be some major changes. Gone are Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, staples of the series through the first three films. In their place are new agents played by Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, each eager to take on a globe-trotting adventure.

With the movies release date on the horizon, CinemaBlend ventured to London to spend time on the set of director F. Gary Grays sequel and learn about how Men In Black International planned to move the story forward, while also leaning on the franchises past. There will be nods to the existing Men In Black movies heck, Emma Thompson reprises her role as Agent O, proving this story takes place in the same continuity as the Smith and Jones adventures. And one prop, in particular, will play more of a central role in this movies narrative.

Producer Walter Parkes opened up about the development of the story for Men In Black International, saying that Chris Hemsworths character, Agent H, is well-known for defeating a villain known as The Hive. Only, maybe he didnt and his memory is affected by the infamous neuralyzer thats always used in the MiB series. Parkes told CinemaBlend:

Rafe [Spall] plays Agent C, whos Chriss rival. The Hive is the villainous force that Liam [Neeson] and Chris defeated four years before all of this. And our story deals with a sort of repeating history. The Hive have come back, and we discover that the circumstances of the great moment that made Chriss character a hero may not have been true. So its interesting. You know the thing about the neuralyzer, its a very interesting prop in the Men in Black universe, and the idea of taking peoples memories away and putting in false memories, which weve used but sort of around the kind of periphery of our plots, might have a little more central role in this one.

Thats an interesting approach. Is it possible that Chris Hemsworths Agent H was neuralyzed by his own people into believing he did some heroic deeds? In the initial trailer for Men In Black International, Hemsworth was playing his character as someone who is a little aloof and above the action, perhaps seeing himself as too good to worry about alien creatures and otherworldly messes. Maybe its because his memory has been altered? Well know soon enough.

Tessa Thompson, meanwhile, fits into the narrative as a New York-based fan of the MiB who discovers the secret agency, then talks Emma Thompsons supervisor into letting her into the organization. Tessa will join Hemsworth on his missions, and probably prove herself to be more adept at alien busting than the burly Aussie is.

Its cool that the new story is making good use of props from the original series, and evening finding important ways to potentially use them and add fresh angles to the Men In Black narrative. The use of the neuralyzer is a signature move for MiB, and Im curious about how using it on an agent like H will impact the story.

Despite being released back in April, the events of Avengers: Infinity War are still being felt. The Russo Brothers crafted an emotionally driven blockbuster that somehow utilized almost every major character in the MCU. This even includes Benicio del Toro's Collector from James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy, who briefly appeared in the film's second act.

In addition to The Collector's quick appearance in Infinity War, Benicio del Toro also has a role in the ride Guardians of the Galaxy -- Mission: BREAKOUT! And it's an appearance that's been garnering all sorts of NSFW comments from park patrons. Some choices include (in del Toro's own words),

I ride you. I enjoy riding you. You're always letting me down.

Such crass language for the happiest place on Earth! Still, part of me thinks the Guardians of the Galaxy like Star-Lord and Rocket wouldn't want it any other way.

The Collector was a supporting role in Guardians 1, but still made his way to theme parks, as Disneyland's Guardians of the Galaxy -- Mission: BREAKOUT! ride is actually set within The Collector's lair. As such, Benicio del Toro is part of the ride-- further cementing his role in the MCU. And after briefly appearing in Infinity War, comic book fans are eager to see if/when the eccentric cosmic character pops back up.

As a smaller role in Guardians of the Galaxy, del Toro's Marvel involvement isn't quite as intense as his co-stars like Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, and Zoe Saldana. But as a protector of one of the Infinity Stones, The Collector has become an important part of the overall lore.

Of course, The Collector's short scene in Infinity War wasn't actually the character, but an illusion created by Thanos and the power of the Reality Stone. It turns out that his lair was all but destroyed, with fans wondering if Thanos and his followers might have killed The Collector when accruing the stone. Or, if he died in the finger snap of death.

The Collector's future in the MCU is still a complete mystery, as the studio is keeping the contents of Avengers 4 under wraps. Furthermore, it's unclear how/if the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise will continue. The threequel is on indefinite hold, as James Gunn was fired by Disney after controversial comments from a decade go resurfaced on Twitter.

If you've ever been to Walt Disney World and especially if you're a huge fan of the most magical place on Earth, you know that there are certain snacks that you simply have to eat on every visit. Examples include the Mickey Ice Cream Bar, a chocolate-shelled vanilla treat that keeps you cool in the hot Florida sun, the massive and juicy turkey leg that's well worth its high price, and the refreshing cult favorite Dole Whip. These iconic snacks are synonymous with Disney World, and now, a new contender destined for similar greatness has entered the fray. Alcoholic push pops are now available at Disney World. That's right, push pops, but with alcohol.

The new adult-only treats will be available at the Paddlefish restaurant located in Disney Springs, formerly Downtown Disney, Walt Disney World's shopping and dining district. That means you won't be enjoying one of these drunken delights while riding It's a Small World or the Jungle Cruise in the Magic Kingdom. According to People, the alcoholic push pops are made by Buzz Pop Cocktails and are 15% ABV, or the equivalent to one cocktail, so enjoy responsibly. The push pops come in flavors including blueberry pomegranate, Moscow mule, mango passionfruit, with white Russian and grasshopper sorbet on the way. The pops are also fat free and less than 100 calories each, just in case you want to tell yourself you're being healthy while basically eating candy and getting drunk in Disney World.

Unlike some of Disney's theme parks, there are plenty of options for inebriation in Disney Springs, so this isn't a groundbreaking introduction of alcohol. If you're going to Disney Springs, you're either shopping, eating or drinking, and probably all three. The alcoholic push pops are the perfect transportable snack for the young at heart who still want to reap the mind-altering benefits of their advanced age while they admire art they can't afford in The Art of Disney store and act like a kid in The LEGO Store.

The Disney parks have been going through something of a transformation when it comes to alcohol in recent years. Walt Disney himself famously didn't want alcohol served in the parks, and that mandate was maintained for some time, at least in Disneyland proper and Disney World's Magic Kingdom. However, the addition of the Be Our Guest restaurant in 2012 introduced alcohol to the Magic Kingdom, and now it is served in all of that park's sit-down restaurants. And now even the original Disneyland park will be adding alcohol with the addition of Star Wars Galaxy's Edge, because you can't really have a dry cantina.
