Shia LaBeouf Is Tattooed And Unrecognizable In First Tax Collector Image

Following his Disney Channel days, Shia LaBeouf has built an interesting reputation for himself as a performer. From outside-of-the-box art pieces to going method for various movie roles, you're never quite sure what to expect from LaBeouf. The actor's next project is starring in David Ayer's The Tax Collector and while little is known about the project, we now that LaBeouf's character has got some serious ink. Check out the first official image of The Tax Collector, which features an almost unrecognizable LaBeouf as the heavily tattooed lead character.

Before he steps into Bright 2, David Ayer's next project is The Tax Collector. The plot of the movie is being kept tight under wraps but it's supposed to be in the vein of Ayer's other work such as Training Day and End of Watch. The project will star Shia LaBeouf assumably as the title character, so you better pay your taxes because you do not want this dude knocking on your door.

The director revealed the first look at LaBeouf's character via Twitter, which shows off a shirtless LaBeouf covered in tattoos. It's tough to make out exactly what the tattoos are, but the word "Creeper" is stretched across the stomach and there's a picture of a woman on the chest. Additionally, you can also spot a mug on the thigh, which is an interesting tattoo, to say the least. The picture is giving off some pretty strong Jared Leto-Joker vibes, who himself was very heavily inked. That's likely not coincidental because David Ayer also directed Suicide Squad, which was that controversial Joker's first appearance.

All in all, it's a pretty solid tease for The Tax Collector. Shia LaBeouf's character clearly means business, and this is likely not a guy that you want to cross. David Ayer's crime thrillers definitely aren't afraid to dive into violence, and we can likely expect a fair amount from The Tax Collector. Written and directed by Ayer, the movie has no release date just yet and also stars George Lopez, Lana Parrilla, Bobby Soto, and Cheyenne Rae Hernandez.

You can also see Shia LaBeouf starring as his own father in Honey Boy, a biopic about Shia LaBeouf's life as a child actor and his troubled relationship with his dad. A Quiet Place's Noah Jupe will play a younger LaBeouf, while Manchester By the Sea's Lucas Hedges will portray LaBeouf around the age he was during Disney Channel's Even Stevens. The film does not have an official release date but is expected to arrive in theaters in 2019. This is one of those movies that was planned before Justice League happened, and while it isn't necessarily deceased in the water, but I also don't see it showing up anytime soon. Just let me have my buddy-cop Flash and Cyborg movie happen please. At the very least, we'll be getting the character in the Doom Patrol series later this year!

See What Keanu Reeves Could Look Like As Wolverine

Years before the Marvel Cinematic Universe brought serialized storytelling to the mainstream, the superhero genre was in its relative humble beginnings with Bryan Singer's X-Men. That franchise is still going strong, with the upcoming Dark Phoenix continuing the main narrative, while spinoffs like Deadpool and The New Mutants help flesh out the expanded universe.

The X-Men franchise recently lost its main star, as Hugh Jackman retired from playing Wolverine with James Mangold's Logan. But Disney's upcoming merger with 20th Century Fox has many hoping Wolverine would be recast, and finally brought into the MCU. Keanu Reeves recently revealed that he's got a passing interest in playing Wolverine, and now an artist has rendered Reeves as the character, check it out:

Is anyone else nerding out right now? This image shows what Keanu Reeves might look like as Wolverine in the MCU, and it's pretty epic. Of course, the odds of him wearing Logan's claws is pretty thin.

The above image was rendered by artist Boss Logic. Whenever superhero news or casting rumors begin making the rounds of the internet, Boss Logic usually ends up crafting his own version of that character. It's a way for the fandom to imagine actors taking on iconic superhero roles, especially since most of the casting choices never come to fruition.

Still, seeing Neo dressed up like Wolverine is the crossover that geek culture didn't expect. And Keanu certainly looks badass in the role. The version pictured shows Logan after a battle, with fresh wounds slowly healing. The slashes on his forehead allow his adamantium skull exposed, which is an especially cool detail to include in the rendering.

While Keanu Reeves might not be the first actor that comic book fans would associate with the fan favorite X-Men, his prior action experience surely gives the actor the experience to wield Logan's slaws. The version pictured is a bit older and more experienced, similar to Reeves' appearance in the John Wick franchise. Reeves gets in great shape and goes through intense training to play the hitman/dog lover, and that same bloodlust could easily be applied to Wolverine's rage.

Of course, John Wick isn't the only time Keanu Reeves has become an iconic action star. He's perhaps best known for his role as Neo in The Matrix trilogy, where Reeves performed some of the most iconic action sequences in recent history. The use of wire work and slow motion has become commonplace in the years since, and Reeves' experience in The Matrix would likely inform a hypothetical performance as Wolverine.

It should be fascinating to see what happens to the current X-Men franchise once the deal with Disney is finalized. While moviegoers are eager to see the mutants enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's a logistical nightmare. Will the same timeline and actors be transferred into the property? Or will Disney recast and bring new adaptations of the team to the massive universe? Only time will tell.

How Will Ezra Miller's The Flash Movie Be Affected By Fantastic Beasts 3 Delay?

Warner Bros. has been trying to get a Flash movie off the ground for a long time now. The project has suffered several director changes and delays, the latest of which had the film arriving in theaters by 2021. However, that has all been brought into question as Fantastic Beast 3 has just delayed filming, creating a conflict for star Ezra Miller. The Flash will either have to be fast-tracked or delayed once again.

Originally, the still-untitled Fantastic Beasts 3 was to start production in July of this year with a release in 2020. However, Warner Bros. is reportedly taking a new approach with its event films and giving them enough time to develop, rather than rushing pre-production to make a release date. That means that Fantastic Beast 3 was having production pushed back to autumn to give the movie more time to prep.

Considering the mixed-to-negative reactions to Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, this is a good idea! There was no report on if this would ultimately affect Fantastic Beasts 3's release date, but it's possible that it could get pushed back to 2021. What's equally unclear is how all of this affects The Flash.

Ezra Miller is juggling two commitments to Warner Bros. The actor stars as Barry Allen and Credence Barebone in The Flash and Fantastic Beasts franchise, respectively. The last plan for The Flash was that it would get in front of cameras this spring, but the film was delayed because work was still being done on the script.

The delay was also to give Ezra Miller time to film Fantastic Beasts 3, which at this point was still going to film in the summer. So, The Flash was expected to begin rolling in late 2019.

However, as pointed out by Collider, this is when Fantastic Beasts 3 is now filming, so what does this mean for The Flash? The most obvious answer is that the superhero blockbuster will be pushed back once again. Even assuming that it starts filming in early 2020, it could still potentially arrive in late 2021.

The unlikely option is that the film will be fast-tracked to take Fantastic Beasts 3's summer production spot. Seeing as how Warner is looking to prevent doing that for these movies, that might be a counterproductive idea.

The Flash is just one of those movies that can't seem to catch a break. Overall, I think it's a good thing to give the movie as much time to get itself straight as possible, especially after the success of Aquaman. But, at some point, they have to pull the trigger on this thing and get it to the theater.
